Question 1 of 3

1. Question

When an Doppler finding appears abnormal or unexpected, which approach is most appropriate?

Prioritize the Doppler finding with the highest velocity when it's reproducible and technically well defined
Correct Incorrect Correct answer

Give greater weight to the imaging view that most clearly demonstrates the abnormality, even if other views are less convincing.
Correct Incorrect Correct answer

Accept the finding when 2D imaging and Doppler both appear abnormal, even if the overall examination is not fully concordant.
Correct Incorrect Correct answer

Interpret the finding in the context of anatomy, physiology, timing, and the rest of the exam.
Correct Incorrect Correct answer

Correct Incorrect Correct answer
Question 2 of 3

2. Question

Why is the timing of a spectral Doppler signal important when determining whether the signal represents the expected cardiac flow?

Timing is most useful for confirming whether a high-velocity signal has been traced accurately.
Correct Incorrect Correct answer

The timing of a signal is less important than its peak velocity when the spectral envelope is well defined.
Correct Incorrect Correct answer

A true signal should occur during the physiologic interval expected for that flow and be consistent with related Doppler findings.
Correct Incorrect Correct answer

Timing is primarily useful for distinguishing systolic from diastolic flow but does not reliably help determine signal origin.
Correct Incorrect Correct answer

Question 3 of 3

3. Question

When a beam-width or slice-thickness artifact is suspected, which approach is most appropriate for verifying whether the finding is real?

Increase overall gain until the suspected finding becomes more clearly defined.
Correct Incorrect Correct answer

Rely on the view in which the abnormality is most conspicuous if the image quality is otherwise adequate.
Correct Incorrect Correct answer

Confirm the finding with color Doppler before making additional two-dimensional imaging adjustments.
Correct Incorrect Correct answer

Reproduce the finding from an alternate imaging plane and adjust the focal zone when appropriate.
Correct Incorrect Correct answer

I don't know
